Preparing for your test - before and after...

Before
  • When visiting your physician, ask what test is being performed and why the test needs to be done. Knowledge of your test will prepare you for your visit.
    • Urinalysis may be required.
    • Sample cups can be obtained prior to visit for home collection or during your visit.
  • Sometimes special preparation is required to improve the accuracy of a test, which could include fasting. 
    • Cholesterol/Lipid Panel
    • Glucose/A1c
  • Follow your physician's instructions for preparing for your test. 
What you need to bring
  • The test request form from your health care professional (usually valid for at least 6 months)
  • All major laboratory request forms are accepted
  • A current insurance card
  • A photo ID
After
  • Follow up with your physician.
  • Most test results could take as little as a few hours to as much as several days depending on the complexity. 
    • When completed, results will be forwarded to your physician.
